THE REUNION NIGHT

What a enjoyable and memorable night it was. Saturday, 8th August 2009 - The Reunion Night.

The organising team were at the Vanda Restaurant as early as 6.30pm, welcoming ex-students as they came..little by little they came...then roars of laughter, hand shakes, hugs..28 years ago we were little boys and girls.

Teachers and ex-students greeted each other - most have changed, more "experienced' and "wiser"...only a few have "maintained their looks".. ;)

Roars and laughter, chit chats...never ending, even getting louder every second.

Starting the event...getting everyone seated..what a challenge..haha..all so so excited to meet each other after many many long years.

We started off with the recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah, led by our schoolmate, Imam Ahmeddani. We offer the Al-Fatihah to our friends and teachers who had passed away, may they be Blessed. Imam Ahmeddani then read the "doa kesyukuran".

Then The Safety Briefing...apparently it was the Banquet Manager's first time to do such a briefing...he did OK. It was my job to make sure everyone is safe all through the function - safety...top priority always!!

We were also fortunate to have had Dato Hj Jalil Abd Rahman, Datin Hjh Noriah's husband, at the dinner. He was the first principal of the Science School, way back in 1970 when it was called Sekolah Menegah Jalan Muara. I asked him to tell us a brief history of the school to which he agreed and spent a few minutes telling us of his experience and the history of the school! It was interesting of how the school developed to what it has become now..

Dato Hj Jalil talking about how the school was

The nostalgic slide show got us in laughter as we saw old photos...and nostalgic 80s music.

Congrats lucky winners!

Congatulations to the lucky draw winners!! Very nice prizes...well done! Buttt...before the lucky one were given their prizes...they were asked questions..Science, Maths, Geog, Bahasa Melayu, Ugama..and with Basiron's help, he asked some awkwards questions reminiscing some questions in class years back...ermmm "How do you pronounce appropriate?" hahaha...cruel Ron!

The night went by, more talk, more chit chat...the night wasn't enough. The waiters and waitresses, were eager to go home, we weren't..haha.

Boys will be boys...

In total 50 ex-students and 8 teachers turned up! and with their accompanying spouses and children - there were 74 altogether.

Around 11.30ish, we all finally said goodby...BUT it is only the start! Watch this space...more to come!

Wassalamualaikum & see you all soon!

  1. It was a brilliant night. So much we try but the child in all of us would never let us come on age.It was nice even our look may have changed, familiarity in our demeanor did help some to recognise each other. The night did cheer the child in us up,but let us not forget those who have become part of that child in its growing up process, especially our teachers. And hopefully our reunion will bring much benefit to us in keeping our teachers closer to our heart. It would be nice if we can get all of them teachers next time around.
